I will teach my daughter how to love, but most important how to stop. They never teach you how to stop.

aymygod

They truly don’t. This is a beautiful lesson. Teaching her to know when to let go, when to know she’s worth more than what she’s getting.

This is a huge jewel to remember if i ever have a daughter

g0dziiia

How do you even teach that?

katelynmariexxo

by reinforcing your worth and supporting a daughter that knows being guilt tripped into love by a controlling person isn’t healthy. being manipulated or humiliated isn’t love. being deceived or abused isn’t love. shaping a daughter into an aware, self loving person who knows she’s worthy of only the utmost respect and love is how you teach that. my mamma taught me that from a lil one. don’t take anybody’s shit and don’t take no wooden nickels. 💖

I believe I grew up being taught the direct opposite. Not just through words - but actions. This is so real, and so important

Narrowly beating a statute of limitations deadline to file charges, prosecutors in Pennsylvania announced a felony sexual assault charge against comedian Bill Cosby Wednesday. A former Temple University employee says Cosby drugged and assaulted her in January of 2004.

Montgomery County, Pa., prosecutors have charged Bill Cosby with aggravated indecent assault – a first-degree felony.

“These charges stem from a sexual assault,” according to prosecutor Kevin Steele, who said the assault occurred at Cosby’s house in Cheltenham, a Montgomery County township that’s just outside of Philadelphia.

Steele said Cosby is expected to appear in court to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon; he also urged any other victims to contact his office.

Over the past year, Cosby has been accused of sexually abusing dozens of women. Cosby has denied those charges, and earlier this month, he filed lawsuits against seven of his accusers, saying they had made up the claims to extract money from him.

There is so much joy represented in this photo. Joy from the donors that donated these gifts, joy from the children and parents soon to received them, and joy from our staff and volunteers that happily prepared and decorated the room. We’re so grateful for the many community groups, individuals, families, and companies that took the time to make donations of toys to My Sisters’ Place this holiday season. Our clients had a wonderful time selecting gifts for themselves and their children.

“ In the weeks leading up to the shooting, my mother had filed a petition for a protective order against my father. Protective orders are meant to make it more difficult for an abuser to purchase a gun but, because of a number of loopholes, they don’t provide much actual protection. Currently, the law in Georgia, where the shooting took place, does not prohibit individuals convicted of domestic violence misdemeanors from possessing firearms or ammunition, nor does it prohibit those subject to protective orders from possessing firearms or ammunition.”

TW for violence against women, domestic violence, abuse

“Protesters wearing mourning clothes and black veils held up signs with the number of women’s refuges that have closed since 2010 – estimated at around 30 – and shouted slogans including “they cut, we bleed” as they marched through central London.

The protest came days after George Osborne’s autumn statement, which coincided with the UN’s International Day for Ending Violence Against Women, received a mixed reception for using the controversial “tampon tax” on sanitary products to fund women’s charities.

“I’m going to use the £15m a year raised from the tampon tax to fund women’s health and support charities,” the Chancellor said.

“The first £5 million will be distributed between the Eve Appeal, SafeLives and Women’s Aid and The Haven - and I invite bids from other such good causes.”

Sisters Uncut, whose members protested on the red carpet at the film premiere of Suffragette last month, described the proposals as a “sticking plaster on a haemorrhage”.

Members are demanding no further cuts to domestic violence support services and guaranteed funding for specialist support for those helping help black and minority ethnic women.

The group also argues that council budget changes will also impact on local domestic violence services, which it says leaves fewer women at risk of harm and death at the hands of their partners without refuge.”

“I want this to be a story, and I want you to tell 10 friends and for them to tell 10 friends. Act like it’s a sale on a purse. Tell somebody this has got to stop. Speak Tonya’s name into the air, don’t whisper it! She was a person. She had a name. She had four children. If you know somebody who has been abused, speak their name. Speak my name.”
