Join the Kennebec Land Trust and the Friends of the Cobbossee Watershed to paddle Little Cobbossee and visit the Oatway Preserve in Winthrop. We will meet Monday, August 12 at 5:30 p.m. at the Friends of Cobbossee Watershed office on Route 202 (across from the Lakeside Motel).

Today, Little Cobbossee is about 75 acres with a maximum depth of 33 feet. The pond was smaller in the mid–1700’s, before Cobbossee Stream was dammed. The Oatway Preserve features 34 acres of wetlands, 4,000 feet of shoreline with significant wading bird and waterfowl habitat, and 56 acres of mixed woods.

Optional opportunity to participate in an aquatic plant identification workshop prior to our paddle, at 4 p.m. Learn about invasive aquatic plants and what you can do to help stop their spread. Let us know if you’d like to participate in both events.   

Please plan on bringing your own kayak or canoe and PFD. If you do not have a kayak or canoe available, let us know, we may be able to direct you to rentals.

Directions:Meet at the Friends of Cobbossee Watershed office on the northside of Route 202 in Winthrop (2518 US Route 202). The office is located opposite the Lakeside Motel, on the shores of Little Cobbossee just north of Cobbosseecontee.
