MA, LPC & Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor
*Not accepting new clients.*
Katie has been working with children, adolescents, families and individuals for more than a decade. Throughout her career, she has created safe spaces for counseling that provide people a place to talk about mental health without fear of judgment. Katie started her career as a Functional Family Therapist providing intensive in-home therapy and then worked as a school-based K-12 therapist for the last seven years in Colorado.
Katie received a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology at the University of Vermont then went on to complete two master’s degrees: Higher Education and Student Development from the University of Denver and Counseling Psychology from the University of Colorado. Katie is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). EMDR uses rapid eye movements and other forms of bilateral stimulation as the catalyst to create change and healing. Specializing in depression, anxiety, trauma, sexual orientation and navigation of life transitions, Katie has helped many people overcome tough times and establish self-reliance to face their future with hope. Katie is trained in mindfulness, play and art-based interventions, as well as animal-assisted psychotherapy. She also uses skills to support emotional regulation, including tools from CBT and trauma-informed.
Katie will bring a genuine curiosity to hear your story and provide the tools to help you heal and grow. Katie offers a collaborative process based on what works best for you to encourage deeper engagement. Her focus is on creative and engaging ways to help you get results. While sometimes challenging, the process is filled with encouragement, curiosity and self-discovery. Katie’s goal is to help clients find the courage and stamina to be the agent of change in their lives while being their supportive guide throughout the healing process.
